What Price Glory

先日も紹介しました、昨年５月のリエナクトキャンプの動画ですが、今日は嬉しいコメントをアメリカ在住のリエナクターで退役軍人の方からいただいたのでご紹介します。

嬉しい、と言うのは単純に「褒めてもらった」と言うだけではなく、おそらく動画を見て私達BCo/100bnが目指している事、リエナクトメントを行う意味についての理解が得られた事に対してです。
それはこのコメントをくれた方が、従軍経験者だからなのかもしれません。
戦争映画では描かれない、兵士の日常の追及と言うものが時代は違えど、アメリカ陸軍兵士から見た時に好意的に感じてくれたのではないか、とも思います。

以下本文まま。

I first saw pictures of your group about a year ago and I was impressed, now after watching your video I can honestly say I am amazed. The efforts your Company puts forth to recreate the life and daily routines of a soldier have fully been captured. There is so much more to getting it right than just a correct uniform and equipment. One would be hard pressed to find a detail that has been overlooked here. From the posted training schedule, to the field chow, to training classes and exercises, to morning reveille and everything else that your unit is doing it is all there. This is why the 100th succeeds where so many other groups around the world fail. You look like real soldiers because you act, train, and live like real soldiers. Perhaps most importantly you have captured the esprit de corps that is so prevalent in the Army. I say this from my own experiences serving in the U.S. Army. Though I served in the 1990’s I could relate to what I was watching easily. You men can be proud of a job very well done in honoring those Japanese Americans, the Nisei that would “Go for broke” on the field of battle.

おそらく最も重要なところは、あなた達が軍隊の「ノリ」、団体精神を捉えている所だろう。
私は私の合衆国陸軍に従軍した経験からそれを言う。
私は1990年代に従軍したけれども、その時普段から見ていた物なのだろう

あなた達の日系アメリカ人、戦場で「GoForBroke」を信条とした二世達への尊敬が、そのとても良い”仕事”をさせているのだろう。
